clear, drive, watch for return — rear sensors set intermittent codes far more often than front sensors because the harness flexes with suspension travel and the connector sits low where it catches road grit. With the rear axle on jack stands, spin the LR wheel by hand while watching scan-tool live data: speed should ramp smoothly from 0 to roughly 3-5 mph at hand-spin pace, with no dead spots and no flatline. Cold-ohm the sensor at the body-side connector (passive sensors read 1,000 to 2,500 ohms, active Hall sensors show roughly 5V reference and pulse 0.6V to 1.2V square-wave when spun). Check for play in the bearing by rocking the wheel at 12-and-6 — any clunk and the hub assembly is the culprit, not the sensor. The expensive misdiagnosis here is condemning a $400 hub when the actual fault is a $15 connector pigtail soaked in differential gear oil from a leaking pinion seal, or a chewed harness from a mouse nest above the rear axle — inspect with a flashlight before ordering parts.
