P1134 is GM's transition-time-ratio version of the lazy-sensor code: the PCM compares the time the front HO2S spends transitioning rich-to-lean versus lean-to-rich against a calibrated ratio, and when one direction takes more than roughly 1.5x the other over the monitor window, P1134 sets. In live data, watch the B1S1 rich-to-lean and lean-to-rich transition times on the enhanced GM PID list — both should sit between 60 and 120 ms at 2500 rpm closed-loop, and the ratio of the two should stay between 0.66 and 1.5. Cheapest first: confirm no exhaust leak between the head and sensor with a smoke machine or soapy water at 5 psi backpressure, then check fuel pressure under load (a weak pump that drops from 58 psi to 48 psi during a snap-throttle will skew the lean-side transition long), then inspect the sensor heater circuit — heater resistance should read 3 to 8 ohms cold and the heater duty cycle should be commanded above 80% within 30 seconds of key-on. The trap: P1134 with clean trims and good fuel pressure almost always IS the sensor, but P1134 with LTFT above +10% is a fuel-delivery or vacuum-leak problem masquerading as a sensor problem, and a new sensor will set the code again within 200 miles.

Vehicle-specific patterns

Vehicle-specific patterns: 2003-2007 Silverado/Sierra 5.3L Bank 1 Sensor 1 with P1134 frequently traces to the exhaust manifold-to-head gasket leak on the #1 cylinder runner, which causes asymmetric pulse cooling that lengthens only the rich-to-lean side. 2004-2008 Grand Prix/Impala 3.8L sees P1134 from a heat-soaked sensor connector at the manifold heat shield — the pin tension relaxes and adds 2-4 ohms of intermittent resistance. 2006-2009 Trailblazer 4.2L throws P1134 when the underhood ground G103 at the right front strut tower corrodes, dragging sensor reference. 2007-2010 Cobalt/HHR 2.2L Ecotec gets P1134 from the intake manifold gasket weeping at the #4 runner, which is a sealed-design failure documented in field information bulletin PIP4567. Estimated repair: $90 to $550.
