P0967 is the Pressure Control Solenoid B Control Circuit Intermittent — the TCM sees the circuit drop out of normal operating range, then return, and stores the code without going into a full short/open state. Intermittents are the hardest to diagnose because the fault doesn't present at the bay. Cheapest-first: pull freeze-frame data and look at the conditions when the code set — fluid temp, vehicle speed, RPM, and gear range tell you when to recreate the fault. Then physically wiggle-test the case connector and the harness route between TCM and trans with the engine running and a scan tool live-graphing the PCS-B PID; movement that drops the signal points at a specific connector or chafe point. Ohm the solenoid pin-to-pin both cold and hot — a solenoid that ohms 12 ohms cold and 4 ohms hot is breaking down thermally even though it passes a static test (spec stays inside 8-30 ohms across temp on a healthy unit). Check ohms-to-ground hot and cold (>100k ohms expected, dropping under load means partial short). Run the trans through full-temp cycle on a road test with min-max recording on the scan tool, watching circuit voltage and commanded current — current excursions outside 0.5-1.5 A on the driver indicate intermittent winding breakdown. Expensive-misdiagnosis caveat: on Chrysler 545RFE/68RFE intermittent P0967 is the textbook early-warning sign of an integrated solenoid-pack going thermally noisy — the pack passes cold tests, sets the code at full operating temp, then clears on cool-down, and technicians who throw a fluid flush or a single connector clean at it routinely see the code return hot and louder within 1,000 miles. The right call on a 545RFE/68RFE intermittent is pack replacement once you've confirmed the case connector and harness are clean, not another shotgun service.

Vehicle-specific patterns: 1996-2007 GM 4L60E throws intermittent P0967 from a marginal case connector that loses pin-fit during temperature cycling — the fix is connector body replacement, not just deox spray. 2003-2010 Dodge Ram 1500/2500 with 545RFE and 2007-up 68RFE sees P0967 as the classic precursor to solenoid-pack failure; AAMCO and independent transmission shops aggregate this as one of the highest-volume RAM trans codes between 70k-150k miles, full solenoid-pack replacement $500-900 parts plus labor. 2007-2013 Ram HD with the Aisin AS69RC throws intermittent P0967 after a torque-converter shudder event dumps debris into the PCS-B bore — valve-body service required, $800-1,400. 2001-2010 GM HD with the Allison 1000 (LCT1000) sets intermittent P0967 from the PCS-2/PCS-3 wire chafing at the case-flange ridge under thermal expansion, which Allison Transmission service guidance specifically addresses with a harness re-route procedure before solenoid replacement. Estimated repair: $300 to $1,500.
