OBD-II Code · Powertrain
P0775
Pressure Control Solenoid "B"
Second pressure control solenoid fault.
Common symptoms
- Harsh or slipping shifts
Likely causes
- Failed solenoid
- Wiring
- Fluid contamination
Where to start
- Try the cheapest cause first. Start by checking: failed solenoid.
- Cost & scope. $300-$2,500
- If the code returns after the fix: escalate to a shop or scanner with live-data and freeze-frame. A code that re-sets means the underlying fault is still there. Don't keep driving with this one active — risk of damage.

P0775 indicates an electrical circuit fault in Pressure Control Solenoid B (often called PC-B, EPC-B, or SLT/SLU depending on manufacturer). This solenoid is a variable-duty PWM device that modulates line pressure or specific clutch apply pressure, and the PCM has detected an open, short, or driver fault. Cheapest checks: scan for companion codes, then measure solenoid resistance at the case connector. PWM pressure control solenoids run lower resistance than on/off shift solenoids: typical 3 to 7 ohms on GM 4L60E/4L80E EPC, 4.8 to 5.8 ohms on Ford 4R75W EPC, 4 to 6 ohms on Chrysler 45RFE pressure control, and 5 to 6 ohms on Toyota SLT solenoids. The PCM drives them with a PWM signal typically 0 to 100 percent duty cycle at 244 to 614 Hz depending on application, commanding roughly 0 mA at full pressure and 1 amp at zero pressure (current-controlled). If resistance is in spec, verify the PCM is sending the PWM signal by back-probing the control wire with an oscilloscope or graphing multimeter; you should see a clean square wave with varying duty cycle as load changes. Caveat: ATF contamination of the internal harness will read infinite or shorted at the solenoid even though the part itself is good, so always disconnect at the solenoid and test it directly when possible.
Vehicle-specific patterns
Vehicle-specific patterns: 2001 to 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 with 4L80E sets P0775 from the force motor (EPC) failing electrically after fluid contamination, and GM TSB 06-07-30-010 covers updated force motor and filter. 2004 to 2008 Ford F-150 with 4R75W trips P0775 from the EPC solenoid wiring chafing inside the lead-frame internal harness, requiring lead-frame replacement. 2002 to 2007 Jeep Liberty with 42RLE sets P0775 from the line pressure solenoid in the solenoid pack failing, covered in Chrysler TSB 21-014-06. 2003 to 2009 Toyota 4Runner with A750E/F sets the SLT linear solenoid code from internal contamination, and Toyota recommends complete solenoid replacement plus fluid exchange. Estimated repair: $250 to $1,100.
