P0267 sets when the cylinder 3 injector control circuit reports current below the expected threshold during ECM commanded pulse-width, indicating a short to ground in the injector low-side circuit, a shorted injector winding, or a failed ECM injector driver channel. Cheapest first: with key off, unplug the cylinder 3 injector and measure resistance across the injector pins — 11-17 ohms is normal for saturated-driver high-impedance injectors, 1.5-4 ohms for peak-and-hold low-impedance; readings well below the low end confirm a shorted winding. Inspect the harness from the connector along its full routing — cylinder 3 sits in a position where the harness frequently crosses fuel rail brackets or EGR plumbing and is prone to chafe-through to ground. Confirm the 12 V supply on the injector feed side (should be battery voltage with key on if non-cycled, or pulsed if injector relay is cycled) and verify the ECM is still driving the low side with a noid light. Caveat: a recent timing chain or head gasket service that disturbed the injector harness is a common precursor to P0267 — inspect for pinch points under intake manifold reinstallation before assuming a sensor or injector fault.
