P0207
Injector Circuit Malfunction — Cylinder 7
Cylinder 7 injector circuit fault.
Common symptoms
- Cyl 7 misfire
- CEL
Likely causes
- Failed injector 7
- Wiring
Where to start
- Try the cheapest cause first. Start by checking: failed injector 7.
- Cost & scope. $100-$500
- If the code returns after the fix: escalate to a shop or scanner with live-data and freeze-frame. A code that re-sets means the underlying fault is still there. Don't keep driving with this one active — risk of damage.
Read the full diagnostic procedure
P0207 isolates the cylinder 7 injector circuit, so it only appears on V8, V10, and V12 engines. On most domestic V8s (Ford 5.4L, GM LS, Chrysler Hemi) cylinder 7 sits at the rear of the passenger-side bank, which is one of the hottest spots in the engine bay for connector and harness damage from exhaust heat soak. Cheapest-first ladder: noid light at the cylinder 7 connector with key-crank to confirm PCM is commanding the injector, resistance check at the injector terminals (port-fuel: 11 to 17 ohms; GDI: 1 to 3 ohms; compare to the other seven cylinders and flag any outlier more than 0.5 ohm off median), and scope the pulse-width waveform looking for a clean square-edge ground pull-down within 0.5V of ground and 2.5 to 3.2 ms pulse-width at warm idle. Visually inspect the cylinder 7 pigtail and connector for melted plastic and heat-discolored terminals. The expensive misdiagnosis is full injector-set replacement at $1,500 to $2,400 on a Hemi or LS when only the cylinder 7 connector needs a $40 pigtail repair.
Vehicle-specific patterns
Vehicle-specific patterns: 2007-2013 GM 5.3L and 6.0L LS Silverado, Tahoe, and Yukon throw P0207 famously from melted cylinder 7 Multec injector connectors (GM TSB PIP4568 documents the heat-soak failure on the passenger rear); 2005-2010 Chrysler/Dodge 5.7L Hemi Ram, Charger, and 300C sees P0207 from injector connector corrosion under the valve-cover edge where oil seeps through a failing gasket; 2004-2010 Ford 5.4L 3V F-150 and Expedition trip P0207 from coolant intrusion at the intake manifold corroding the cylinder 7 injector connector pins (TSB 06-19-8 covers the plastic intake replacement); 2003-2008 BMW N62 545i/745i V8 sees P0207 with injector solenoid failure on the rear passenger cylinder. Estimated repair: $90 to $1,800.
