C0561 — system disabled information stored — is not a root-cause code, it is a flag the EBCM sets to tell you that ABS/traction/stability is currently inhibited because some other code or condition is present. By itself it means nothing; you must read all the codes in the ABS module and address those, because clearing C0561 without fixing the underlying fault just makes it come right back on the next key cycle. Cheapest first: pull ALL modules with a bidirectional scan tool (not just the generic powertrain side — C0561 lives in the EBCM and many basic OBD-II readers cannot see it), and look for the companion code that actually identifies the disabled subsystem. Most commonly C0561 rides with low-voltage codes (C1241, B1318), WSS codes (C0035-C0050), steering angle sensor codes (C0710), or yaw-rate sensor codes. Check battery voltage at the EBCM connector key-on: anything under 10.5V during cranking or under 12.4V key-on-engine-off will set C0561 by itself on many GM platforms. The expensive misdiagnosis here is paying for diagnostic labor to chase C0561 as if it were a real fault — a competent tech reads the companion codes in 2 minutes and quotes the actual repair, while a parts-cannon shop will throw an EBCM at a $90 battery problem.
