5 Things Every Auto Shop Website Needs
You don't need a fancy website. You need one that works. After looking at hundreds of auto shop websites — the ones that actually bring in customers and the ones that don't — there are exactly 5 things that make the difference.
Get these right and your website becomes your best salesperson. Miss any of them and you're wasting your money.
1. Phone Number Above the Fold
“Above the fold” means visible without scrolling. When someone lands on your site, your phone number needs to be right there. Not buried in a footer. Not hidden behind a “Contact Us” link. Right at the top.
76% of local mobile searches result in a phone call within 24 hours. If your number isn't immediately visible, that call goes to someone else. On mobile, it should be a tap-to-call button. No one is going to memorize your number and dial it manually.
This is the single most common mistake on auto shop websites. Beautiful design, great photos, phone number at the very bottom of the page where no one looks.
2. Services List with Pricing
Customers want to know two things: do you do the work they need, and roughly how much will it cost? Answer both questions on your services page.
You don't need exact pricing for everything. “Oil changes starting at $39.99” or “Brake service: $150-$400 depending on vehicle” is fine. Give people a ballpark so they know what to expect. Shops that list pricing get 35% more inquiriesthan shops that just say “call for a quote.”
List every service you offer. Don't assume people know you do alignments or fleet work or diesel repair. If it's not on your website, it doesn't exist as far as Google is concerned.
3. Hours and Location with a Map
Sounds obvious. You'd be surprised how many shop websites don't have clear hours, or have hours that are wrong, or have an address but no map.
Your hours and address should be on every page — in the header, the footer, or both. Include an embedded Google Map. 72% of consumers who search for a local business visit one within 5 miles. Make it dead simple for them to find you.
If your hours change seasonally or you're closed on certain holidays, say so. Nothing frustrates a customer more than driving to a shop that's supposed to be open and finding a locked door.
4. Customer Reviews
You can talk about how great your shop is all day. Doesn't matter. What matters is what your customers say.
Put your best Google reviews right on your homepage. 3-5 real reviews from real customers with their names (first name and last initial is fine). 92% of consumers read online reviews before making a purchase decision. If they can read those reviews without leaving your site, you keep their attention longer.

5. Mobile Responsive Design
Over 60% of all web traffic is mobile. For local services like auto repair, that number is closer to 80%. If your website doesn't look good on a phone, you're losing the majority of your potential customers.
Mobile responsive means the site automatically adjusts to fit any screen size. Text is readable without zooming. Buttons are big enough to tap. The phone number is a tap-to-call link. The map works. Nothing is cut off or overlapping.
Pull up your current website on your phone right now. If you have to pinch and zoom to read anything, it's not mobile responsive. That's costing you customers every single day.
Everything Else Is Optional
Fancy animations? Optional. A blog? Helpful for SEO but not required on day one. Photo gallery? Nice to have. Video tour? Sure, if you want.
But those 5 things above are non-negotiable. Phone number visible immediately. Services with pricing. Hours and a map. Customer reviews. Mobile responsive design. Hit all 5 and your website is doing its job.
